My 6.5 MOA Trijicon RMR projects a 3.25" circle on target at 50 yards, a 1.625" circle at 25 yards. I went and looked at the X95 today, with the Virtus and some other options in mind. A 12 MOA red dot projects a 6" circle on target at 50 yards, a 3" circle at 25 yards. Theres a used X95 with 'extras' (mags and a case) for 1600 and the local gun shop has a brand new MCX Virtus for 1625 before tax, if that makes a difference. Even 9 MOA or 12 MOA red dots work great on shotguns and are preferable to small dots because of the shot patterns produced at the short ranges these weapons are employed at. Shotguns can use much larger diameter red dots than what works best on an AR-15. My 6.5 MOA red dot is mounted on my Benelli M2 12 gauge and this is probably the smallest MOA I would suggest for a shotgun. So this size isn't a precision red dot, but it is quick for combat style shooting.
